This is a picture of the little village where I was born.
Dear Tom,
As I said yesterday, we must be related. I have a photo of our family in the Davy Inn, it must be from around 1944, because my mother (Patricia) must be about 8 years old. She is the one standing in front of the cake, the other little one next to her (on my mam's left) is her sister Lily (named after my Great Auntie Lily who is also in the photo. My grandmother, Margaret, is the lady standing at the right of the photo, with somebody's hand on her arm.
Do you recognise anyone? Please reply!
Maria
Dear Tom,
I am still hoping and waiting for a reply from you. I don't have an email address for you, so I don't know how to contact you, unless you contact me.
You must be my mother's cousin and you are probably in the photograph too, (which I have not been able to upload as yet to the blogsite), along with your grandparents.
I only created this blog as a project for my students (I am an English teacher living in Spain) to practise their English, and I thought the topic "where I'm from" was a good one for them to see as an example. But since creating the blog, I've never really kept it up and I hadn't consulted it until Monday! You can imagine my surprise when I saw your comment - and when I saw the surname Coxon, I knew we must be related. Now I would really like to get in contact with you, since grandma died in 1977, I thought I didn`t have any family left - but now I see there is a ray of hope and since the Coxons were so numerous, there are probably many cousins and distant cousins scattered around everywhere, who I'd love to know.
So here's hoping you'll see this comment and reply. By the way, as yet, I haven't figured out how to upload the photo onto the website, I will keep trying, I keep getting the "error" message. If I had your email, I could send it to you as an attachment. But I will ask someone at work to help me upload it onto the blog too.
Hope to hear from you soon,
Maria
Oh,I can't believe this! We must be related! Thankyou so much for replying!!
My grandmother, whose maiden name was Margaret Coxon was probably his daughter. She married Edward Scanlan, my mother, Patricia Scanlan, and I am Maria Scanlan.
My grandmother's eldest sister was called Lillian - my great Auntie Lily, and my aunt was named after her.
I know that my grandmother had about 4 sisters, I'll check it out and tomorrow I will scan and send you a photo of them all!
Who are you?

My grandad used to own the Davey Inn Wallsend in the 40s. Tell me anything you know your history. All the best ... Tom.
